Main Road on Johns Island
Needs Improvements Now
Many residents of Johns, Kiawah and Seabrook Islands, in southern Charleston County, are aware of the serious strain on this primary artery.   Main RoadWhile hundreds of millions of dollars flow toward unnecessary road project (see elsewhere on this website) important roads like this one go unimproved, and a traffic crises looms.

At 20,000 vehicles a day in places, this two-lane, winding road should have been widened long ago.  It is one of two routes to the mainland for both Seabrook and Kiawah, two large resort islands, and most residents of Johns Island. Traffic backs up daily for miles, both morning and night, for residents and working people alike.  There is no plan to widen or improve the road at this time.
